Fire Emergency Resources

Updated 1/17/25 5:38 PM

San Gabriel Pomona Regional Center reports to date, they know of 1 fatality, 13 lost group home facilities, and 144 Regional Center participants and families lost their homes. West Side Regional Center reported 70 regional center participants and families lost their homes. 90 are still not sure if their homes are there or not.

The regional centers ask consumers impacted by the fires to please contact their service coordinators to let them know if you are okay and provide contact information. They are working to ensure the safety of all of their consumers and want to hear from you. If you don’t know your service coordinator, call the main regional center phone line and ask for the officer of the day.

Updated 1/16/25 9:10 AM:

As wildfires disrupt the lives and livelihoods of thousands in our communities, Disability Voices United stands in solidarity with our fellow Californians impacted by the devastation. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been forced to leave their homes, suffered losses, or is uncertain about what comes next.

Thousands of people have had to evacuate, and we recognize how stressful and challenging this can be—especially for people with disabilities, including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), and for older adults. We understand the additional support that self-determination program participants and families need during the clean-up and recovery.

Temporary Increase of Rate for Vendors:

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) shared a new directive on January 14, 2025. Regional center leaders from ELARC, FDLRC, HRC, NLACRC, SGPRC, SCLARC, TCRC, and WRC can approve temporary rate increases until March 31, 2025. This is to help with more service hours, evacuation support, emergency workers, and other safety needs because of the fire. Families can also get Coordinated Family Support remotely during this time.

Vendors may receive payment for absences:

Due to the Governor’s State of emergency declaration, regional center vendors in the affected areas may get paid even if there are absences during the emergency.
