TO: REGIONAL CENTER EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

SUBJECT: COORDINATED CAREER PATHWAY SERVICES IN THE SELF-DETERMINATION PROGRAM

In October 2022, the Developmental Services Budget Trailer Bill, SB 188 (Chapter 49, Statutes of 2022) added Welfare and Institutions Code section 4870.2, requiring the Department of Developmental Services (Department) to establish an employment pilot program. The Department developed Coordinated Career Pathways (CCP) as a new
employment service option.

Beginning June 2024, the CCP program will be available to all eligible individuals as described in the March 25, 2024 directive, including Self-Determination Program (SDP) participants. Regional centers should refer to the March 25, 2024 directive for SDP participants who request CCP as a needed service. When authorizing the service, regional centers shall fund it outside of the SDP participant’s individual budget.

If participants and/or their families have questions regarding this correspondence, they should contact their regional center. Questions from regional centers should be directed to EmploymentPilot@dds.ca.gov.
