Background on SDP Data: The Self-Determination Law was signed by Governor Brown in October, 2013. The program finally began being phased in by June 2018 with a goal of 2,500 people participating over three years. By the time the SDP was available to all, only about 600 people were participating. The slow growth of the program has been hindered by many barriers. Disability Voices United continues to advocate for the elimination of the barriers to participation in the SDP.
